ALEXANDER THE GREAT: MAN, KING, HERO (IV)

THE SHADOW OF ALEXANDER IS EXTENDED.

I will end these entries on the Macedonian king, referring to a chapter in the tradition of Alexander the less well known: it is in the East there is also a tradition on his face:
    translated
  • East Alejandro novel (remember what was said here on its Armenian translation.)
  • Then he continued in the legend of Iscandar ("Alexander"), transmitted by Persian poets of the eleventh and twelfth centuries, Ferdowsi (Shah-Nameh, "the book of kings": about 1000 AD) and Nezami (Escandar-Nameh, "the book of Alexander" from 1150 to 1200).
East is important to note that Alexander also makes an Oriental, as well as the Middle Ages of the West became a Christian: Ferdowsi
  • supposed Darab Alejandro is the son of a Persian king and Philip's daughter; divorced from her husband, girl raised her son with Philip. The poet Nezami
  • Islamized Alexander: I do go to Mecca. Nezami has also endowed with insatiable ambition: why Alexander undertook the fruitless search for the source of life.
remember finally significant as a curiosity, which, indirectly, is heir to the Islamic tradition about Alexander the Albanian tradition with respect to their national hero, Gjergj Kastriot, "Jorge Castriota "in English.
among us can be known through the work of Ismail Kadare (see rain drums, 1970, English translation, 1984).
George Castriota is known in culture and literature of his country as "Skanderbeg", in Turkish "Iskander Bey," meaning "lord" or "Prince Alexander" - the appellation is applied Skander / Alejandro as a synonym for " hero. "
Note the analogy with the case of Julius Caesar and use both names par excellence:
  • "Caesar" is quintessential name of the emperor, and thus come Caesar, among others, the words 'Kaiser' in German, or 'Tsar', 'Czar' in Russian.
  • Instead, Alexander seems to be employed as a designation of excellence of the hero in the case of the Muslim tradition:
is
George Castriota Skanderbeg,
"Mr. Alexander"

or, which is,
"the hero par excellence."
